Something Blue...

Sorry for the lack of posts...arrrgghhhh...I have a new job, a wedding to plan, and plus everything else I have lumped into my life.  I vowed that I would not turn this into a blog on my wedding, but everything that I am thinking about buying lately is wedding centered.  If I post too much on the wedding readers...just let me know and I bring it down a notch or two.

For my something blue I really wanted to go all out with a snazzy pair of shoes.  I pretty much have it narrowed down to the Manolo "Carrie" Shoes, which are at Neimans as we speak.  I am a little worried about the Manolos because they run really small.  I have tried them on in the store in a size 11 and that was no go.  Of all the Manolos I have ever tried on...I question are Manolos really for the big girl...lol?  On the Neimans site they have them in a 12, which I have never tried on, but I am still worried.

The reason I want the shoes is becaue they just seem so magical to me...like Dorothy's red shoes on the Wizard of Oz.  Since my dress won't be the huge expense as I expected it to be...I was leaning toward a fab pair of shoes.

On the other hand I was looking at the Kate Spade satin shoes, which are much cheaper...about $600 bucks cheaper.  On top of that they are way shorter in height and for someone who has knee issues that is a huge plus.  Plus they are super cute.  They aren't magical, but they will do the trick.
Why do you guys think?  I really just want to pick the perfect shoe. :)

  1. I would go with the Kate Spade. Not just because of the price, but you can get another use out of them. They would look fab with a black suit and get a nice coordinating blouse to wear under the blazer. At least I would wear it and I'm a curvy girl. Plus who can't love a pair of strappy heels?

  3. I think you can wear both pair more than once if you wanted to...however, I love the Manolo! Looks more classic to me...and Sex and the Cityish...LOL since Carrie wore them. However, standing at the alter and for pictures you will need something that fits your foot correctly so go with the best fit!!!

  5. I definitely agree... comfort is key with any wedding item purchase. And hurt feet is not something that you want on your wedding day. I prefer the Kate Spade.. but thats mostly because Im not comfortable in the high heels anymore. But if you can rock the Manolo's.. I say GO FOR IT!

If you're still looking for the perfect wedding dress, I would highly recommend checking out millybridal. They will make you a custom dress in any size. I got 2 dresses from Milly (ceremony and reception). Most of their designs are very similar to the straight size designers. You may need to try on a few dresses (I had major drama trying to find and tryon dresses in plus sizes, aarrrgh!) just to make sure you know the style and fit.. but then I would send an order to millybridal right away! Its worth the $50 for customizing.

  7. I would go with the Kate Spade, although the Manolos are beautiful, I know I would be able to last very long with that heel height. And I am sure you will be wanting to dance all night long. If you wanted to add a little more magic to the Kate Spade, they sell shoe bling that can be clipped right onto the bow part

  10. The Kate Spade ones have my vote. Plus with the knee issue you need cute and comfortable. The Manolos are haute, but the Kate Spades are a winner!!

PS - Latina227 suggestion is great compromise between the two.

Congrats Chastity I know the wedding will be FAB!

  11. AAAH man! Why do we have to choose??!! I personally heart the Manolo's and my thought is if you are saving on the dress...splurge on the shoe but if they are not comfy...that is a NO GO!

If I were you, try on the size 12 Manolo shoes and see if they fit...if they don't then go for the second option.

BUT...if they do fit and you get teary eyed...GET THEM!!

It also depends on your dress...if it's long...go for the Kate Spade shoe.

I'm all for a colorful shoe with a wedding dress!

But wait...600 bucks?? If you bought the Kate Spades, you could splurge on a mini trip later in the year or something.

    Aaah..I'm no help am I?!?

    Good luck

  13. For this special day, I would go for comfort! And because I haven't crossed that shoe threshold of spending more than a 100 dollars for shoes, I am doubly saying go for comfort and price...I have crossed the marriage threshold though.

And from what I remember on my wedding day, I know for sure you want to be comfortable...you are cute so that's covered no matter what. :-)

    Be blessed whatever you decide!

  14. Hey cousin. I am all for comfort. You will be on your feet all day. Nothing worse than when your feet hurt. Order the Manolos in 12 and see if they work. If not you can always go with the Kate Spade which are beautiful none the less. Congratulations. Love your cousin Ivy

  15. I think I found a solution for you. I found a low heeled version of the manolo on Zappos for $99 in the same color. It even has a similar jewel buckle. Here is the link. They have it in a size 11 and it got great reviews.

  17. Love that idea. My wedding is in less than 2 months and I was thinking of something similiar. I love the first pair!

  18. bronxgirl1's suggestion seems like the best option to me. the same look and styling of the manolos, with the comfortably lower heel of the kate spade with the added bonus of a reasonable price.

  19. I vote for the Manolo's! And I saw that two other people found a shorter version at Zappo's but I found almost the same exact shoe at KMart...

I know that it's KMart and not many people will even look at their items, but there shoe selection has dramatically improved! Have a great time at your wedding!
