Outfit of the Day: Material Girl - Garnerstyle

Outfit of the Day: Material Girl

I thought I would do a quick post of what I wore to see The Planet of the Apes movie (it was great for anyone who wants to know).  Anyway, this particular outfit wasn't a normal group of internet purchases I actually found most of the pieces, GASP, in the actual store!  Isn't that crazy, I had almost completely given up on physical shopping, but the past few weeks has proven me wrong.

Plus size clothing, jibri, banana republic, material girl,

Okay, I want to boast a little bit about this jacket.  This was one of those "fashion coming down from the heavens" kind of purchases.  I'll explain.  You know when the stars are all aligned, you are shopping, and you get the perfect item for the perfect price in your size.  That is "fashion from the heavens."  It doesn't happen often, but when it does it is freaking awesome!

Plus size clothing, jibri, banana republic, material girl,

Outfit Logistics

Top - Banana Republic Outlet $37
Skirt - JIBRI $110 Print sold out (I actually got this one on sale at a trunk show)
Belt - Ann Taylor $40
Shoes - Ann Taylor $20 (on sale org. $100)

Plus size clothing, jibri, banana republic, material girl,

Don't you love this print?! It's just so pretty.  I have said it before and I'll say it again....a high waist skirt is a must in your closet.  It is so easy to wear.  I am up to 3 now....LOL.

Plus size clothing, material girl,

The details of this jacket are just adorable.  This is from Madonna's Material Girl Collection.  It goes up to an XL and for the most part it is just very cute teenager clothes.  There are actually a lot of oversized tops and a couple of cardis that I could see incorporating into my wardrobe. I was actually walking through the plus size section of Macys (thinking this stuff is hideous) and saw the bright and fun Material Girl section.  So I just went over to look. The prices are very cheap as well. The jacket was originally only $34, but on sale for $20.  And look....SMILE....it has lace detail.  Everything is very 80s Madonna inspired.  And here is a fun fact, Kelly Osborne is actually featured in the campaigns.

  5. The top is just darling. I wish I could wear skirts but my height makes them an awkward length. You look adorable as usual.

  16. I love love this jacket! What a great find! Although...I was just in Macy's here in Chicago, and there wasn't a Material Girl section in Plus Size...did you find the jacket in the junior section? Way to go if so! Anyway, you look fantastic!

  17. Hi Amber...yes I actually found this in the jr's section. I got a size XL. It was just one of those fabolous finds sent down from the fashion gods...lol. I usually wear a 16/18 on top to give you an idea of how the jacket fit.
