Plus Size Fabric Guide - Garnerstyle

Plus Size Fabric Guide

Fabric, plus size

Most shopping for plus size is done online and I wanted to give a quick fabric guide on commonly used fabrics in plus size clothing.  One of my personal tips for successful online shopping is to know your fabrics.  Knowledge of fabrics will allow you to gauge the fit of a garment, allow you to pick the best size, and give you a good idea on what you will be getting in the mail.  Remember to always read the fabric content of garment before purchasing.  Sometimes we get so excited about the garment that we forget to inform ourselves on what we are actually buying.  I've done it myself.  Another important note is that generally the more expensive the garment the nicer and often heavier/thicker quality of the fabric.  I love a great deal like anyone else, but always check that tag for the original price.  A garment that was originally priced at $110 as opposed to $30 is generally going to have better fabric.  No matter what you get it on sale for, you always want to get the one with the highest original price.  Be sure to bookmark this guide for future reference.  I plan to do a series on mastering online shopping.

  1. Hello, Chastity: So excited to see this as a series! I know your readers will find the info very helpful...I do 98% of my clothes shopping online (for better deals, coupon codes, and variety) and as you've stated having knowledge about fabric/textile content/yield takes the guesswork out and makes for a happier shopping experience! LOL Once I got that mastered, no more clothing disasters, surprises, and bombs! Great idea!

  2. This post is perfect. I was debating writing something like this myself but it looks as though I don't have to - this touched on everything. I try my best to pick pieces based upon what it's made of and I HAAAAAATE how most plus sized pieces are polyester.

    1. Yeah, I try to steer clear of a lot of lower ender fabrics unless it like a trendy top that I'm only going to wear once.

  3. Very helpful post! Would you mind considering one on comfortable heels? I see so many gorgeous plus ladies in stilettos, but I find them intensely painful, even when I'm sure to pick a wide width! Any tips you could share would be so appreciated!
